Creating a campaign
A wizard in six steps: Basic Info · Audience · Content · Settings · Anti-Ban · Review. The bar at the top shows the percentage completed, and Save Draft lets you stop and pick it up again.
Step 1 — Basic Info
Campaign Name and Description.
WhatsApp Channel Type — this is where you choose between the official and the unofficial channel, and the dialog lists the limits of the unofficial one without mincing words:
- reduced speed, 20 messages per minute
- better to stay inside working hours
- no delivery or read receipts
- a higher risk of restrictions on the account
These are not prohibitions: campaigns do go out on the unofficial channel, and the Anti-Ban section further on is there precisely to keep them within cautious limits. It holds up well on small lists and with contacts who already know you. For mass marketing the Business API is still preferable, giving higher volumes and the delivery receipts that are missing here.
WhatsApp Connections — you can select several accounts at once. It is not a frill: spreading the sending across several numbers is part of the anti-blocking protection. With no active connections the wizard sends you back to Settings → Channel Connections.
Campaign Type — immediate or scheduled sending.
Steps 2-6
Audience selects the recipients, Content the message or template, Settings the sending options, Anti-Ban the protections against having the account blocked, Review the summary before starting.
These five steps only open with an active WhatsApp connection: connect the channel first, then come back here.
Do not skip Anti-Ban. It is the section that separates a campaign that goes out from a number suspended by Meta, and its default settings are a starting point, not a guarantee: the larger and colder the list, the more it pays to slow the sending down.
